4 Days - "Paperweights, Millefiori and Cool Hot Parts" - with Gil Reynolds
May 10 - 13, 2017
The Murphy Fire Bucket is a miniature "Glory Hole" or reheat chamber. The Fire Bucket System is also referred to as "Desktop Glass Blowing" because of its small footprint. Yet, it produces a serious 2,350 degrees of contained heat for those that want to make components for their fused work like intricate millefiori, twists, shards, two toned stringers, drip lines and more. It can also be used to make finished goods like paperweights, perfume bottles, roundels and sculptures. This hands-on four day class will have you doing the "Molten Madness Glass Dance" as you learn how to work with hot glass while you make all kinds of cool pieces to take home to impress your friends. Gil and Mike Murphy developed the Murphy Fire Bucket back in 1986 and Gil has taught this class around the world showing fusers how to up their game by including intricate hot parts. Although Gil has pretty much stopped teaching, he is coming out of retirement to teach this one exciting class to a very small group of students. Be part of the fun and learn from one of the pioneers of the contemporary art glass movement.
