The new M35 – Starfire Drape Mold is a breakthrough in
mold design. Build by Gil Reynolds, this mold allows you to make fluted shapes
that resemble blown glass right in your own kiln. Made of industrial grade
ceramics, the M35 is designed for a long firing life. Just coat with shelf
primer or boron nitrite spray, elevate slightly off of the kiln floor with kiln
posts or fiber paper for circulation, place your glass on top and you are ready to go. The mold measures 11.5" x 3.75".
Pictured is a single layer 15” diameter circle of System 96 #532-1FS
Caribbean Blue decorated with piping lines made with a mixture of Fuse Master
Liquid Stringer Medium (2 tbs.), Clear System 96 Powder (2 tbs.) and Fuse Master LO – 05 Black Enamel (1/4 tsp.). The piping
was applied to side “A” then fired flat at 400 DPH to 1350F./ 750C. for 15
minutes. Once it was cool, more piping was applied to the edge of side “B” and
the very edge itself. It was then placed
with side ”A” down on the M35 mold (elevated 4”) and fired at 300 DPH to 1220F.
/ 660C. for 13 minutes.
