Devitrification is a fact of fusing. Some types of glass lose their glossy surface easier than others but most every glass will grow devitrification crystals if given enough time at high temperatures. We offer several alternatives to eliminate this problem. Each spray is designed for specific temperature ranges.
Back Magic 975°
Add shine to the backside of your fused or bent pieces with Back Magic 975°. Spray or brush on this overglaze and fire to 975°F. Because it matures well below slumping temperatures, the back side can be fired without the front side picking up any texture from the kiln shelf. This product will not eliminate textures or kiln wash but it will make most surfaces smoother with a slight gloss. NOT recommended for food-bearing surfaces.
